Mamma Chia Squeeze Snack

Our organic chia seeds are infused with delicious fruits and vegetables to create a convenient, fun and tasty snack for active people of all ages.

Health and Beauty Benefits of Chia Seeds

Chia Seeds were a staple in the diets of the Aztecs and Mayans and known for their ability to increase stamina and energy over long periods of time.[1. Chia: Ancient Super-Seed Secret, The Dr. Oz Show,]

Chia seeds are a wonderful source of essential fatty acids (EFAs), especially for those looking for a vegan source. We all need to consume these necessary fatty acids, since our bodies are not able to produce them. EFAs "support heart health and beautiful skin, hair and nails."[2. Chia: Ancient Super-Seed Secret, The Dr. Oz Show,]

The chia beverages contain 6g of dietary fiber, 4g of protein, 2500 mg Omega-3 fatty acids, 965 mg Omega-6, and 365 mg Omega-9. The chia snacks contain 4g of dietary fiber, 2g of protein, 1200 mg Omega-3, 500 mg Omega-6, and 210 mg Omega-9.

For contrast, Kirkland Signature Natural Omega-3 fish oil softgels, at the recommended daily dose of three gels per day, provide 900 mg of Total Omega-3 Fatty Acids. So drinking a Mamma Chia Organic Beverage or eating a Mamma Chia Organic Snack would provide more Omega-3 fatty acids than taking the Kirkland fish oil supplement.

The high fiber content in chia seed makes them great for cleaning out your colon.[3. How to Use Chia to Clean Colon, eHow Health,] I first heard about chia seeds while watching Forks Over Knives, which mentioned this beneficial property.

Mamma Chia Organic Vitality Beverage

The Mamma Chia beverages are delicious and refreshing! The chia seeds, with their gel-like outer coating, give the beverage a similar texture to a boba drink. When I tried the Blackberry Hibiscus beverage I let my husband and sister-in-law try a bit too, and their reaction was, "let's go to the store and buy some more!". I found the Mamma Chia drinks at our local Whole Foods for $3.69 per bottle. We tried the Guava Mamma, Coconut Mango, Pomegranate Mint, and Cherry Lime flavors and enjoyed them all!

Mamma Chia Organic Vitality Snack

The chia snacks have a gel texture, with crunchy chia seeds dispersed throughout. I did not care for the taste of the Green Magic flavor. I liked the Apple Cinnamon flavor better. It tasted like apple sauce and was super cinnamon-y. I don't care as much for the squeezable snacks, but they would make a super healthy snack option for kids.

Rating 3.5 out of 5 stars (3.5 / 5)

Mamma Chia Organic Beverages, $3.69

Mamma Chia beverages are a delicious way to get a large helping of Omega-3 fatty acids, and other important nutrients and they really are fun and refreshing.

Mamma Chia beverages receive their first star for containing all-natural ingredients.

They earn half a star for being packaged in clear glass bottles, which I assume can be recycled.

The drinks earn another star for being an effective way to consume nutritious chia seeds.

The Mamma Chia beverages loose out on a star, for not being the best value for your money. The suggested retail price of $3.49 for 10 FL OZ is on the expensive side. I found them for $3.69 at the nearest Whole Foods Market, but a different location of Whole Foods was selling another brand of chia seed drink for $3.79 for 16 FL OZ. I wish there was an option to purchase a case of of the Mamma Chia drinks at a lower price. Update 9/12/13: Mamma Chia Beverages are now available in a 6 pack at Costco! Regular price $15.89, with instant rebate just $12.89.

Mamma Chia beverages earn a gold star for being a pleasure to drink!

Overall, the beverages get a rating of 3.5 out of 5 stars. I definitely recommend trying the Mamma Chia Organic Beverages! I will be buying them from time to time as a special treat.

Mamma Chia Organic Squeeze Snacks, $1.69

The Squeeze snacks are a convenient way to serve up fruits, veges, and chia seeds.

Mamma Chia Squeeze snacks earn their first star for containing all-natural ingredients.

They miss out on a star, since the metal pouches do not appear to be recyclable.

The snacks earn a star for being an effective and convenient way to consume fruits, vegetables, and super chia seeds.

They also earn a star for being a value for your money, with a suggested retail price of $1.69.

The squeeze snacks earn half a star for being a pleasure to eat. Some people might like the gel consistency better than I do.

Overall, Mamma Chia Squeeze Snacks earn 3.5 stars out of 5. I recommend trying Mamma Chia Squeeze Snacks if you are looking for a convenient nutritious snack to eat on the go and don't mind eating out of a squeeze pack. I think these snacks would be especially good for kids.

I tried the vitality beverage and I found it kind of weird tasting. The flavors were kind of dull. The varieties sound exciting, but the taste is more flat than vibrant. The texture is like eating crunchy liquid jello, again, kind of odd. Mostly, the price was way to high. At nearly $4.50 a bottle, about twice what I believe it should be to be a worthwhile purchase (if you like it).

I pour Mama Chia into ice cube trays and freeze them. I then use them in smoothies with lots of blueberries, strawberries, bananas, and/or pineapple. I add either 2% organic milk for the grandkids, or almond milk when it’s just me and my husband. I’ve also added yogurt and protein powder. I fix it for the grandkids first thing in the morning to stave off hunger until breakfast is ready. They love it!! It’s also a quick on the go breakfast for my husband and me.

Yum! What a great way to start the morning. Your grandkids are lucky that you make them such a healthy snack!

You can also buy chia seeds separately and soak them in a liquid like coconut milk before adding them to smoothies.

I just tried the Mamma Chia drink for the first time and it’s actually really fun to drink. I am excited to try other flavors (I tried grapefruit ginger, which has a nice ginger-y taste!)

It was on sale at Whole Foods for $2.79 but I am glad you say I can find it at Costco for barely over $2 a bottle if I buy 6. I wonder what variety of flavors Costco has.

    Fun, healthful drink!

Just picked some up at Target, they’re on sale 2/$5.00.

I just tried the coconut mango squeeze and I like it especially because I have to eat healthy and fast on the go while working. I really like how they taste and how they energize me.
