Yes to Cucumbers Calming Shower Gel Review

Yes to Cucumbers Calming Shower Gel Review

Product Review

For this Yes to Cucumbers Calming Shower Gel review, I have been using the shower gel for the past month. I purchased the 16.9 fl. oz. bottle of shower gel from Amazon for $8.49.

The Yes ToTM brands are each based upon a fruit or vegetable with beneficial properties for skin and hair. There is a Yes to Carrots nourishing line, Yes to Cucumbers soothing line, Yes to grapefruit correct and repair line, Yes to Blueberries age refresh line, Yes to Tomatoes clear skin line, and Yes to baby carrots for babies and toddlers.

* Certified Organic Ingredient

Yes to Cucumbers Calming Shower Gel for sensitive skin claims on the bottle to be 99.8% natural. It would be nice if they also disclosed which of their ingredients are synthetic.

As soon as my husband tried the shower gel he asked, “are you sure this is natural? Did you look at the ingredients list?”. The ingredients list is long, with confusing words that most of us do not recognize. But I think what may have tipped him off that this shower gel is not purely natural is the synthetic-smelling fragrance. It just does not smell natural. I was curious about the green color at first too, but that could be from the Spirulina, green tea, and algae extracts.

Yes to Cucumbers Calming Shower Gel has a score of 3, indicating moderate hazard, in the Skin Deep Database. The first ingredient of concern is “Fragrance” which has a score of 8, high health hazard. The concerns posed by fragrance are “ecotoxicology, allergies/immunotoxicity, irritation (skin, eyes, or lungs), miscellaneous, and organ system toxicity (non-reproductive)”.[5. Yes to Cumbers Calming Shower Gel, Skin Deep, http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/product/469267/Yes_to_Cucumbers_Calming_Shower_Gel/] Instead of hiding behind the catch-all phrase of fragrance (perfum), the brand should be transparent and let us know exactly what ingredients are being used to add scent to the product and whether or not those ingredients are natural.

The second ingredient of concern is Potassium Sorbate, which has a score of 3, moderate hazard. The health concerns posed by┬áPotassium Sorbate are “allergies/immunotoxicity, and organ system toxicity (non-reproductive)”.[6.
