For this product review I tried Rejuvenating Argan Oil by Aura Cacia. This natural skin care oil is from Morocco and certified USDA Organic. I purchased a 1 FL OZ (30ml) bottle of argan oil at Whole Foods Market for $14.99.
A Natural Alternative to
Argan oil is a natural alternative to many facial moisturizers, body lotions, and hair conditioners containing long lists of synthetic ingredients.
- Organic argan (Argania spinosa) kernel oil
Argan oil has a score of 0, low hazard, based upon limited data in the Skin Deep Database.
Aura Cacia Organic Argan Oil comes in a tinted glass bottle with a plastic pump lid and cap. The pump makes it easy to dispense the oil into the palm of my hand.
Argan oil contains high levels of skin rejuvenating essential fatty acids and is great for moisturizing and nourishing the skin.
Apply as a general body oil, a nourishing hair and scalp massage or to soften and rejuvenating dry skin. Enjoy the benefits of Aura Cacia essential oils by adding 1-2 drops of essential oil to each pump of argan in the palm of your hand. Store in a cool, dry place.
When I pumped out a couple drops of argan oil it smelled similar to olive oil. It is very translucent with just a slight yellow tinge.
The argan oil worked wonderfully as a natural face moisturizer. It absorbed quickly and did not leave my face looking oily. It did not have a heavy or greasy feel. My facial skin has been extremely dry and peeling, from recently being in a cold climate. As soon as I rubbed in the oil I felt relief from the dry itchy sensation.
I have been using Aura Cacia Argan Oil as a face moisturizer for the past month. I am loving it as an all-natural facial moisturizer. It immediately relieved my dry skin and does not leave my face too shiny. Currently, I am using it as a moisturizer both in the morning and the evening. However, I am planning to try a different oil for night use soon. The argan oil seems to have discolored my pillow case a bit. I usually apply the oil after dressing the morning, to avoid getting it on my clothes.
Rating (4 / 5)
Aura Cacia Organic Rejuvenating Argan Oil receives its first star for containing all natural ingredients.
It misses out on one star, for lacking environmentally friendly packaging. It comes in a glass bottle, which is better than plastic, but it has no indication of being recyclable or having been made from recycled materials.
Aura Cacia Argan Oil gains another star for effectiveness as a skin moisturizer.
I awarded another star for value. The price of $14.99 per ounce is within the normal price range of $10-$20 per ounce for argan oil. It is a bit more expensive than what I used to pay for Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel ($14.00 for 1.7oz), but I think the higher price is justified, since this argan oil is natural and organic. I have been using this oil twice a day (morning and night) and the oil is about half way gone after one month, so it should last for about two months.
Aura Cacia Argan Oil receives its final star for being pleasant to use. I do not mind the light scent and I love the feel of the oil absorbing into my skin.
I highly recommend Aura Cacia argan oil as a facial moisturizer for dry skin and give it an overall score of 4 out of 5 stars.
