Aubrey Creme de la Shave Pomegranate Review

Aubrey Creme de la Shave Pomegranate Review

Product Review

For this Aubrey creme de la shave review, I tried the pomegranate scent. I purchased creme de la shave directly from the Aubrey website for $5.77 for a 4 FL OZ bottle.

All Natural Alternative to

Aubrey Organics creme de la shave is an all natural alternative to shaving creams that contain artificial fragrances and colors, along with other synthetic ingredients.

Previously I used Gillette Satin Care Shave Gel for Women, which has a score of 6, moderate hazard, in the Skin Deep Database. The most dangerous ingredients in traditional shave gel are the artificial fragrance and colors. The next most risky ingredient is isobutane, which is a hydrocarbon gas used as a propellant in aerosolized products.

  • illicium verum (anise) oil,
  • aniba rosaeodora (rosewood) wood oil,
  • cananga odorata (ylang) flower oil,
  • cinnamomum camphora (camphor) oil,
  • cinnamomum zeylanicum (cinnamon) leaf oil,
  • mentha arvensis (cornmint) oil,
  • litsea cubeba fruit oil,

Pomegranate creme de la shave has a score of 3, moderate hazard in the Skin Deep database.

The first ingredient of concern is eugenia caryophyllata (clovebud) oil, which has a score of 5, moderate hazard. The health concern posed is allergies/ immunotoxicity. The second ingredient of concern is alcohol denat. (38b, lavender*), which has a score of 4 moderate hazard. The health concerns posed by SD alcohol 38b are: (1) Enhanced skin absorption, (2) Cancer, (3) Developmental/reproductive toxicity, (4) Multiple, (5) additive exposure sources, (6) Organ system toxicity (non-reproductive). The third ingredient of concern is cananga odorata (ylang) flower oil, with a score of 3, moderate hazard. The health concerns posed by ylang flower oil are multiple, additive exposure sources and use restrictions.

If you would like to try Aubrey shaving cream, but feel uneasy about the safety score from Skin Deep, you can try one of the other scents. Toasted Almond, Orange Cream,  and White Tea creme de la shave all have a score of 2, low hazard, in Skin Deep. They are missing the clovebud oil that is found in the pomegranate version.

Aubrey creme de la shave comes in a recyclable tube containing 118 ml (4 FL OZ). The cap is a bit difficult to open without using your nails. I do not like using my nails to pry containers open, since I often wear nail polish.

Lush, moisture-rich shave cream is ultimate luxury for your legs and all over. You’ll love its silky feel and exotic, tropical scent.

Apply thin layer to wet skin. Shave as usual, then rinse.

The pomegranate all natural shaving cream has only a slight scent. I smells more like alcohol than pomegranate. It takes a while to get used to 100% natural skin care products that do not contain the strong artificial fragrances to which we are accustomed.

It has a creme texture and is white with a slight pink tinge. This creme de la shave does not have the fluffy foamy texture of pressurized shaving cream from a can.

Only a little bit of the Aubrey creme de la shave is needed at a time. It was easy to use and left my skin feeling very smooth.

Rating 4 out of 5 stars (4 / 5)

Aubrey Organics Creme de la shave earns its first star for containing only natural ingredients.

The shaving cream earns half a star for coming in a plastic recyclable container.

Aubrey ultra moisturizing shave cream earns another star for being effective. It makes skin smooth for shaving and leaves skin soft.

Aubrey natural shaving cream costs about four times as much per FL OZ as regular aerosolized shaving foam. However, it is within the average price range for natural shaving creams. Aubrey shave cream earns another star for being a good value for your money, especially since a little bit goes a long way.

Half a star is awarded for being a pleasure to use. I wish it had a bit more of a scent. It could include an ingredient that naturally smells good, like coconut oil. Perhaps I would like one of the other versions like Raspberry Honey or Toasted Almond better.

Overall, Aubrey creme de la shave pomegranate earns a score of 4 out of 5. I recommend trying Aubrey brand if you are looking for an all natural shave cream.
